A regional Caribbean retail bank needed a payment switch that could handle its full card estate, ATMs, online payments, and POS terminals, through the same demanding seasonal spikes its island economy is built around. We delivered our customised ON/2 switch on fault-tolerant servers, and in a separate engagement, rescued and modernised an ageing switch the bank had outgrown.
The bank's card operations spanned ATMs, online payment channels, and hundreds of custom POS terminals across the islands. International card traffic surged three to four times over in peak tourist season, precisely when an outage would be most damaging.
One part of the estate needed a brand-new switch built to handle that load. Another was an ageing legacy switch that was straining, poorly documented, and risky to touch, but far too critical to simply rip out.
For the new build, we deployed our customised ON/2 switch on fault-tolerant servers, tailored to the bank's cards, ATMs, online flows, and POS network, with active-standby clustering for five-nines uptime.
For the existing switch, we applied our modernisation and optimisation strategy: we healed and stabilised the old system, documented it, tuned it for the seasonal peaks, and wrapped it with live dashboards and health monitoring, all without rewriting the proven core.
